SERVICES - TRAUMA THERAPY

Trauma Therapy in New York City

Trauma doesn't always look the way people expect. Sometimes it's one event. Sometimes it's years of smaller wounds that built up quietly. Either way, it's real, and it's something you can work through.

ABOUT TRAMA THERAPY

You don’t have to keep carrying this alone.

In-person in Manhattan or virtually across NY, NJ & TX.

Our trauma therapists in New York City are trained in evidence-based approaches that help you process what happened, find your footing again, and move forward at your own pace, not anyone else's.

Trauma doesn't have one shape. It's the event that changed everything. It's the relationship that slowly chipped away at you. It's the thing you've never said out loud. Our therapists have worked with all of it and they'll meet you exactly where you are.

WHO WE WORK WITH

Trauma takes many forms.

Our therapists are trained to work with the full range of traumatic experience, not just what fits neatly into a clinical checklist.

We work with survivors of:

  • Childhood and developmental trauma

  • Sexual abuse and assault

  • Relationship and interpersonal trauma

  • Medical trauma and chronic illness

  • Racial and identity-based trauma

  • Grief and complicated loss

  • Complex PTSD (C-PTSD)

  • Dissociation and emotional numbness

Evidence-based trauma care — matched to you

  • EMDR - Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing

Clinically proven to process and significantly reduce trauma responses, often faster than traditional talk therapy. EMDR helps your brain complete the processing that trauma interrupted.

  • Somatic Experiencing

Works directly with the nervous system to release trauma responses that have gotten stuck in the body. Developed by Dr. Peter Levine and especially effective when trauma feels more physical than cognitive.

  • ART — Accelerated Resolution Therapy

A newer, evidence-based approach that can reduce trauma symptoms quickly, often in fewer sessions than traditional methods. Particularly effective for PTSD and phobias.

  • Trauma-Informed Therapy

Every Grounded therapist approaches care through a trauma-informed lens, recognizing how past experience shapes the present, without retraumatizing or pushing too fast.

IS TRAUMA THERAPY RIGHT FOR YOU?

You don't need a diagnosis to start.

Trauma therapy tends to be a good fit if any of these feel familiar:

✓ Something happened and you haven't felt like yourself since

✓ You react to things in ways that feel out of proportion

✓ You've been in therapy before but feel stuck at a certain depth

✓ Your body holds tension or anxiety you can't explain

✓ You want to process something without narrating every detail

✓ You're ready to stop surviving and start actually living

What Trauma Therapy Can Support

Trauma therapy can help ease symptoms of anxiety, depression, and PTSD, while supporting a deeper sense of stability and emotional well-being. Over time, it can help you build healthier ways of coping, feel more grounded, and reconnect with a sense of control in your life.

Healing isn’t always linear. It can take time, and at times may feel challenging — but you don’t have to go through it alone. With the right support, meaningful and lasting change is possible.

Finding the Right Fit

We know how important it is to feel comfortable with your therapist. We take care in matching you with someone who feels like the right fit — someone experienced in trauma work, and someone you can build trust with at your own pace.
