Group Therapy in New York City

SERVICES - GROUP THERAPY

Healing in community with people who actually understand what you're going through. Therapist-led, carefully composed, and more powerful than most people expect.

Sometimes healing happens in community.

ABOUT GROUP THERAPY

In-person in Manhattan or virtually across NY, NJ & TX.

Group therapy at Grounded isn't just support. It's actual therapeutic work led by a licensed therapist, composed carefully so members feel safe enough to be honest, and structured around specific shared experiences.

There's something that happens when you're with people who genuinely get what you're going through. Insights land differently. You feel less alone. And healing often moves faster than it does in individual work alone.

At Grounded Therapy, our licensed therapists bring a range of experience and training across different approaches, so each group is thoughtful, well-guided, and grounded in real care. We’re here to support teens and adults alike as they navigate their mental health with groups designed to meet you where you are.

The room itself is part of the therapy.

Group therapy isn't just cheaper than individual sessions, it's a fundamentally different and often more powerful kind of work. Here's why it moves things that individual therapy sometimes can't.

WHAT MAKES GROUP THERAPY DIFFERENT

  • Insights land differently when they come from someone who's lived it, not just studied it

  • You practice new ways of relating in real time, with real people, not just in theory

  • Seeing others work through what you're facing reduces shame and isolation significantly

  • The group dynamic itself surfaces patterns you might not see in one-on-one work

  • Research consistently shows group therapy equals or outperforms individual therapy for many concerns

How to chose the right group for you?

TYPES OF GROUP THERAPY

Choosing the right group matters. It’s important to find a space that feels supportive, relevant to what you’re going through, and led by someone you trust.

  • Anxiety Support Groups - A supportive space to better understand anxiety, build coping tools, and connect with others who get it.

  • Body Image Groups - A safe, compassionate environment to explore body image, share experiences, and work through difficult thoughts and emotions.

  • Depression Support Groups - A place to talk openly about what you’re going through and feel less alone, while learning from others with similar experiences.

  • Trauma Recovery Groups - Gentle, guided support to help you process past experiences and move toward healing at your own pace.

  • Sex, Intimacy & Relationship Groups - An open, judgment-free space to explore topics like sex, intimacy, relationships, and identity, with honesty, curiosity, and support.

Group therapy is surprisingly powerful for the right person.

It tends to be a good fit if any of these feel true:
