Hi, I’m Julian Goldhagen
Therapist
I'm a Licensed Master Social Worker and a 2018 graduate of the Hunter College School of Social Work. I work with individuals and couples around sex, intimacy, relationships, gender and sexuality, identity, anxiety, depression, and major life transitions. My background as a community organizer, theater artist, and sex educator deeply informs how I show up in the room, and I bring all of that with me into my therapeutic work.
I draw from Narrative Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and I specialize in sex therapy for individuals and couples. I help clients tell their stories, develop agency, and shift the unhelpful narratives and negative beliefs that can keep people stuck. My practice is grounded in social justice and equity, and I am committed to creating a supportive, affirming space where clients can explore themselves more fully and move toward growth, connection, and empowerment.
Three words I would use to describe myself as a therapist: warm, non-judgmental, and sex positive. I take those seriously. You will not encounter judgment here, whatever you bring into the room.
Outside of sessions, time in nature is a really important part of how I recharge. I am lucky to live close to a park and try to get there as often as I can. I especially love noticing how the natural environment transforms with the seasons. And of course, the beach.
