Hi, I’m Heather Spurell
Therapist
I'm a Licensed Master Social Worker and a graduate of New York University. I work collaboratively with individuals to explore the areas where they feel stuck and find new ways to move forward. I have extensive experience supporting clients through relationships, life transitions, anxiety, depression, trauma, fertility, and the perinatal and parenting stages of life.
I approach each client with genuine curiosity and deep respect for their unique story. I don't try to fit anyone into a rigid framework. Instead, I start by building a strong foundation of trust, and then tailor my approach to what each person actually needs. I often draw from CBT, DBT, and psychodynamic modalities, and I stay closely attuned to what feels most helpful for that specific person in that specific moment.
I believe meaningful therapeutic work begins when clients feel safe, understood, and genuinely connected. I hold onto the details of what people share with me, and I take an active, curious stance toward understanding how unconscious patterns can shape someone's life. I want clients to feel safe, supported, and empowered, and to experience a real sense of movement, no matter how difficult things have felt up to this point.
When I am not in sessions, I am usually running. It is deeply cathartic for me. It gives me space to clear my head, process, and reset. What genuinely lights me up about this work is being part of those moments when things start to shift for someone. There is nothing quite like it.
