Hi, I’m Aoife Hough
Therapist
I'm a Licensed Master Social Worker and a graduate of Columbia School of Social Work. I work with individuals, couples, polycules, and groups, and I bring a warm, relational presence to every session. I'm passionate about enacting anti-racist and anti-oppressive principles in my practice and believe deeply in disability justice, Health at Every Size, sex positivity, and queer and trans liberation.
My training includes Sex Therapy and Sensate Focus techniques, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Somatic Experiencing. I have experience working with people navigating anxiety, depression, OCD, and trauma. I believe in meeting clients exactly where they are, centering their expertise in their own lived experience, and celebrating each person's internal wisdom and capacity for growth.
In sessions, you can expect a lot of curiosity and space for reflection, both on what is happening in your present life and on how past relationships and environments are showing up in the present moment. We will explore those connections together, deepen your self-understanding, and experiment with changing old patterns and finding new ways of being that feel more aligned with your priorities and desires.
Something clients might not expect is the humor. While the work we do together can be intense at times, life can also be genuinely funny. I love creating a space where laughter is part of the relationship alongside the deeper work. Exploring the full range of someone's experience, including the lighter parts, feels meaningful to me.
What I genuinely enjoy about this work is so much. Getting to know each person and their perspective on the world. Witnessing growth, both the mundane and the profound. Being trusted to walk alongside someone as they navigate their life is a real honor, and I find it deeply fulfilling every time.
Outside of sessions, I love to make and consume art of many kinds. Creating something from my imagination, regardless of my skill level, and seeing what others create brings so much play and inspiration into my life. I particularly love to collage, knit, read, and see theatre. I also love getting recommendations from clients about things they are enjoying.
