Hi, I’m Alex Tomback
Co-Founder & Clinical Director
I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a graduate of the Columbia University School of Social Work. I work with individuals, couples, families, and groups, and I bring a relational, attachment-driven approach to the work. My goal is always to create a space where people feel genuinely safe, supported, and able to move at their own pace.
I draw from a range of modalities including Sex Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Informed CBT, and Family Systems Therapy. I tailor my approach to each person rather than applying a single framework to everyone.
What I genuinely enjoy about this work is the privilege of getting to know people in a deep and meaningful way. I feel grateful to be invited into parts of someone's life and to be with their fears, hopes, and the patterns they're trying to understand or shift. There's something really powerful about sitting with someone in their most vulnerable moments and helping them feel less alone in it.
To me, meaningful therapy starts with building real rapport, where clients feel genuinely seen, understood, and emotionally safe enough to explore parts of themselves they may not have had space to access before. I think good therapy is also about going deeper and understanding the underlying patterns, emotions, and experiences shaping how someone moves through the world. Therapy is most impactful when it creates greater insight, emotional connection, and the possibility for lasting change.
Outside of work, I love spending time outside and going on long, challenging hikes when I have the chance. I also try to slow down by noticing the small things each day, like my morning cup of coffee, which I add chocolate milk to so I always have something to look forward to in that first sip. I also find that group fitness classes feel really grounding for me. It's a way to reconnect with myself while feeling part of a community and challenging myself physically.
